Checking the math

Open a recipe and tap Show the math under the lye amount. Each oil line shows weight × NaOH SAP, the SAP in mg KOH/g, the published range and its source. NaOH SAP = KOH SAP ÷ 1000 × 39.997 ÷ 56.105.

Using your supplier's SAP

Tap the oil's name in a recipe, then Edit SAP for this recipe. The line is marked "edited". A NaOH value such as 0.135 is 0.135 × 1000 ÷ 0.71289 = 189.4 mg KOH/g.

Water

Choose water as % of oils, lye concentration or water to lye ratio. The other two numbers are always shown. Concentration is lye ÷ (lye + water); most bar soaps use 25-40%.

Dual lye and purity

Dual lye splits the work by equivalents: 20% KOH means KOH saponifies 20% of the oils. The amount to weigh is pure lye divided by purity; KOH flakes are usually 90%.

Fragrance limits

Enter the maximum % for Category 9 (soap) or Category 12 (candles) from your supplier's IFRA certificate. Lyewise shows your fragrance as % of the finished bar, counting the water as gone, and warns if it is over.

Batches and cure reminders

At the end of soap day, Save as batch (Pro). Lyewise keeps a frozen copy of the recipe, the weights you entered, a lot number and a reminder at 9 am on the day the cure ends.

Recipe or batch, Print: choose US Letter or A4, print with AirPrint or share the PDF. Copy as text is free.

Restore your purchase

Settings, Restore Purchases, while signed in with the Apple Account you bought Pro with. Family Sharing is on.

Backup

Settings, Export backup, makes a .lyewise file with your recipes, batches, oils and fragrances. Import adds what is missing and never deletes.
